Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
| Q. |
What are your qualifications? What is your education background? |
| |
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 1994. |
|
| Q. |
What is your approach to financial planning? |
| |
Our approach is characterized as values based or goals based financial planning. We follow a six step process in which we engage with the client, gather all relevant data, analyze the data, develop a written plan, implement the plan and monitor the plan thereafter. We recommend reviewing the plan annually. |
|
| Q. |
How many clients do you currently manage? |
|
| Q. |
Will you be the only person working with me? |
| |
We use a team approach with our clients. Each client has a primary advisor, but our four person team works together with each of our clients. |
|
| Q. |
How are you compensated? How will I pay for your services? |
| |
We have two methods of payment depending on the services you hire us to perform. Our asset management fees start at 1%. We bill quarterly and those fees are subtracted from the client’s account. Clients that work with us on an hourly basis receive an estimate of the work to be done and are billed after the services are rendered. The hourly rate is $130 an hour with a $1,000 minimum. |
|
| Q. |
If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something? |
| |
We give the client the choice. Almost all of our clients have given us full discretion for trades within the confines of their Investment Policy Statement (IPS). |
|
| Q. |
How much risk should I be willing to take? |
| |
It completely depends on your unique situation. When we answer this question for clients we first try and determine how much risk they need to take, we then compare it with their tolerance for risk. Then the client can make an informed decision about their tolerance for risk. |
|
| Q. |
Have you ever been charged with any breaches? |
| |
No member of our firm has been charged or accused of any breaches. |
|
| Q. |
What services do you provide? What are your specialties? |
| |
We provide on-going portfolio management for clients. We also provide hourly financial planning for client's seeking advice about specific issues like retirement planning, education planning, estate planning, and tax planning or insurance planning. |
|
| Q. |
What financial institution(s) do you represent? |
| |
We do not represent any financial institutions. We have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients. Our client’s assets are held in custody at Fidelity. Our client fees remain the same whether a client is invested in an index fund or a hedge fund. We have no conflicts of interest. |
|
| Q. |
Do you provide a free initial consultation? |
| |
Yes, we like to have an initial meeting free of charge to determine if the client’s needs and our services are a good fit. |
|
| Q. |
Why should I choose you as my financial advisor? |
| |
We believe our institutional quality portfolio management coupled with our comprehensive financial planning focus backed by our uncompromising fiduciary responsibilities set us apart from other firms. We believe the best way to determine if we are the firm you would like to work with is to meet with us in person for a complimentary review of your personal situation. |
