Frequently Asked Questions |
Q. |
Do you have a customer satisfaction or refund policy? |
Yes. Clients may terminate a compensation agreement at any time and receive a prorated refund immediately. |
Q. |
What are your qualifications? What is your education background? |
Values based, goal oriented |
Q. |
How are you compensated? How will I pay for your services? |
<100. My firm is small and "high touch" by design and I plan to keep it that way. |
Q. |
If you are going to manage my account, will you obtain my permission every time you buy or sell something? |
I will be your primary contact. I will work collaboratively with your other advisors and / recommend other advisors such as an attorney or CPA. |
Q. |
How many clients do you currently manage? |
High net worth clients pay an agreed upon annual fee based on net worth. Investment clients pay fees from their investment accounts based on assets. Other planning and projects are handled on a flat fee or hourly basis. |
Q. |
Will you be the only person working with me? |
We will discuss the parameters and asset allocation for your account and most accounts are designed to be rebalanced quarterly. Your permission would be obtained in advance if I feel the need to deviate from the agreed upon plan. |
Q. |
Do you offer any guaranteed results? |
Q. |
How much risk should I be willing to take? |
You will need to balance your investment objectives with your personal tolerance for volatility. I will guide you through this process and help you reach a prudent balance which has an acceptable probability of success while minimizing exposure to risk. |
Q. |
Have you ever been charged with any breaches? |
Q. |
What is your approach to financial planning? |
Net worth or assets based fees. Project (flat) or hourly fees depending on client needs. |
Q. |
What services do you offer? |
I am best suited to clients who need a financial expert they can trust who will not "sell" them but rather become their financial advocate. I tend to discuss financial matters in emotional rather than technical terms which makes concepts easier to understand and decisions easier to make. |
Q. |
Why should I choose you as my financial advisor? |
Recently earned Retirement Income Certified Professional designation from The American College. Previously earned Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation, Chartered Life Underwriter designation and Chartered Financial Consultant designation; also from The American College. |
Q. |
How do you charge for your services? |
Retirement Income Planning, Asset accumulation Planning, Estate Planning |
Q. |
What services do you provide? What are your specialties? |
I believe I add the most value when helping clients who have been widowed or divorced. I am comfortable translating technical data into terms everyone can understand. |
Q. |
What is your experience? How many clients do you currently manage? |
23 years in financial services. Currently managing less than 100 clients with the intention of not exceeding 100 clients. Why? Because there's more to life than trying to build the biggest business on the planet. I prefer to work on a deeper level with fewer clients. |
Q. |
What financial institution(s) do you represent? |
I represent my clients NOT financial institutions. Client assets are held (custody) by third party custodians independent from my firm. Generally my clients assets are held at Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade or Fidelity. |
Q. |
What are your management fees? |
Asset, project or hourly based. |
Q. |
What kind of plans do you specialize in? |
Small employer or professional group plans. I am a certified Employee Benefit Specialist. |
Q. |
Do you have a minimum requirement for number of employees or total investment value? |
Actually, I have a maximum requirement and prefer to work with plans of less than 100 employees. |
Q. |
What type of plans do you offer? |
Everything legally available including 401(k), SEP, SIMPLE, Solo K and so on. |
Q. |
Do you offer any additional services? |
Q. |
What are your qualifications? |
I hold a master's degree in finance, a bachelor's degree in economics and several industry specific designations including ChFC, CLU, CEBS and RICP. Although I am no longer registered with FINRA, I have passed several of their licensing exams including Series 7, Series 65 and Series 24. |
Q. |
What is your approach to 401 K plan rollovers? |
Rollovers need to be handled in a tax efficient manner. Generally I only recommend a "direct transfer" or "direct rollover" to avoid unintended tax penalties. |
Q. |
How long does the process of rolling over a 401K plan usually take? |
Q. |
