Details: My husband and I are planning a fundraiser reception to be held in July. Proceeds will go to animal welfare groups.
This is an unusual event in that it's somewhat of a belated wedding reception for my husband and me. The main focus will be on fundraising but we're inviting only family and friends rather than making it a public event. We got married in January but invited very few people and didn't have a reception, knowing we'd probably have someting larger this summer. Ultimately, we've decided that rather than having the focus of the event be on ourselves, we'd rather focus our energies on creating an event that will help animals in need. My husband and I are starting a nonprofit called the Kismet Animal Welfare Fund, and family and friends who come out to the reception will be asked to donate to our fund in lieu of giving us gifts. We'll also have a slient auction and raffles.
Our plan is to have music, food, dancing, and cash bar, and we're looking for vendors who might be willing to donate their services or offer reduced rates.
